Our engine plant in Darlington needs an experienced Advanced Manufacturing Engineer to design and implement effective, lean manufacturing processes. Your expertise will provide the roadmap we follow to produce our world class engines.

Your impact will be seen in these and other ways:

  • Lead the planning, design and implementation of assembly and/ or fabrication processes in the engine plant

  • Develop and maintains plant layouts, floor space requirements and equipment capacity

  • Advance the Change Lifecycle for key Value Package Introduction programs, Critical Value Package Change Request activity

  • Collaborate with suppliers to procure required equipment that is within budget

  • Eliminate waste and streamline flow and processes using lean methodologies

  • Ensure assembly times are monitored and documented, and related issues tracked, to provide input on needed improvements

  • Promote and support significant change initiatives in the facility

  • Identify opportunities to support continuous improvement initiatives including capital and capacity planning

  • Ensure regional Functional Excellence deployment across Quality & supporting functions of APQP/PPAP and Safe launch planning toolsets

  • Coach and motivate Manufacturing and Industrial Engineers; establish performance standards, formulate development plans and delegate work assignments

Qualifications

Skills and Experience Required:

To be successful in this position you need the following experience:

  • Extensive experience in manufacturing engineering, advanced manufacturing, process engineering or related disciplines in a manufacturing plant

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, PLC Programming and automation

  • Demonstrated skills in communication, interpersonal relations, and ability to inspire individuals to improve performance

  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement methodologies would be advantageous

Required Education, Licenses or Certifications

  • A Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering Degree would be preferred for this position

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary between £47,300 - £59,200 depending on experience

  • 12% Variable Bonus, paid annually

  • Bupa for you, partner and children under 21

  • Contributory pension plan (up to 5% contributions)

  • 25 days holiday plus stat.

The Senior Advanced Manufacturing Engineer has direct responsibility on assigned programs for developing and releasing a production ready manufacturing process from quote through implementation on the plant floor.
