Metallurgist

Description

We are looking to hire an experienced Metallurgist to join our manufacturing plant in Daventry. You will join a small team and utilize your expertise in materials science and engineering principles to identify and implement advance material solutions for our applications in the field and manufacturing at the plant.

Responsibilities will include;

  • Complete metallurgical investigations to help provide root cause failure analysis and drive corrective actions.

  • Investigate and report on engine component failures to determine if metallurgical issues caused them.

  • Support the plant with metallurgical production-related issues and carry out metallurgical audits on engine components.

  • Assist the Quality Test and Quality Customer Teams with problem-solving relating to Engine Testing and Customer Quality Issues

  • Improve processes such as material and material processing validation, quality auditing, design validation, and 7-step problem-solving.

  • Utilize the tools and techniques for material characterisation, material testing, non-destructive testing, mechanical and physical properties measurement, simulation, and statistical data analysis, which are required to enable higher-quality decision making.

Qualifications

To be successful, you will need;

  • A university degree in Metallurgy or Material Science or qualified by relevant experience.

  • Prior work experience in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making.

  • Previous experience in manufacturing processes such as forging, castings, joining, heat treatment, etc.

  • An analytical mind with the ability to interrogate data and from that come up with innovative solutions to potential problems.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary between £39,100 – £43,400 depending on experience.
