We are looking for an enthusiastic Placement Student - ALDV Simulation Engineer to join our team specializing in Simulation Engineering for our Power Systems Business Segment in Daventry. During your placement with us, you will learn how a major global organization operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry and power your potential!
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
As a Simulation Engineering Placement you will assist in the design and development of new and existing products; from diesel and gas engines up to 4060 horsepower and power generation sets up to 4MWe to new technologies such as hydrogen fuel cells and batteries.
Responsible for working and cooperate with designers and development engineers to ensure current and new products have good reliability by carrying out hand calculations, finite element stress analysis, multi body simulation and component life prediction using in house code and commercial software. Training in all these tools and processes will be provided.
You will have the opportunity to apply your knowledge of engineering concepts and practices to provide design recommendations as well as optimise the processes that govern design, development, analysis and release of our products.
Be involved in the development and support the implementation of test plans for experimental mechanics and utilise measured data to improve the validity of virtual models.
Provide clear direction to stakeholders, through various presentation methods and document analysis work and procedures as Cummins Technical Reports
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
Studying towards a Degree in Engineering or equivalent related STEM degree discipline (including Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry).
Has experience in, and can demonstrate, relevant examples of Cummins core values e.g. voluntary work, community involvement activities, working with disadvantaged groups, charity related support, delivering superior results, teamwork, competencies and outside education experiences.
Has clear thought processes and can show a logical approach to tasks, challenges, hobbies etc.
Able to work with other engineering and cross-functional disciplines to resolve product issues and able to participate as a team member and actively contributes towards team goals.
