This is an exciting opportunity in Daventry for a Sourcing Specialist.
Your impact will be seen in these and other ways:
- You will be responsible for strategic supply chain management and operational supplier negotiations for two key commodities: specialized containerisation (for the shipping of completed generator sets to customers) and engine or generator set cooling systems.
Conducts complex analysis of markets, supply chains, and supply base; applies analysis to purchasing process improvement initiatives. Identifies qualified suppliers and executes sound source selection processes. Has regular interface with suppliers within area of responsibility and maintains the supplier relationship. Understands how key purchasing principles are used toward assuring supply.
Independently carries out sourcing activities with full consideration for the impact of those activities on the end-to-end supply chain.
Executes sourcing tactics of varying complexity in accordance with established category/commodity strategies reflecting the optimum cost, quality, delivery.
Participates in sourcing and commodity strategy formulation.
Analyses complex sourcing and purchasing initiatives and processes in support of the delivery of cost effective and high-quality goods and services.
Prepares and presents to senior purchasing/sourcing leadership recommendations of improvement opportunities and alternative courses of action.
Ensures consistent application of sourcing procedures and processes.
Supports purchasing/sourcing management in activities such as price benchmarking, vendor management, industry and market analysis, process analysis, and model building.
- May lead a team of sourcing analysts and specialists at the business unit and/or international purchasing organization (IPO) regional level.
Leads analysis projects/initiatives providing coaching to less experienced analysts and specialists.
Negotiates select contracts.
Develops and maintains effective relationships with suppliers to the benefit of both parties.
Understands the importance of compliance and is alert to situations that can pose risk to Cummins Inc.
Skills and Experience Required:
Intermediate level of related work experience required (e.g., three years’ prior experience).
Establishes and leads the execution of regional category strategy
Establishes and leads the execution of Platform 3 GCR activities by taking accountability of an engine and genset platform cost walk
Execute contract negotiations to increase spend under contract
Executes confidentiality agreements, request for quotes and supplier tooling authorization
Analyses RFQ's and total cost of ownership information to make supplier selections based on a the most cost effective end to end Supply Chain design
Build key stakeholder relationships with Category Leaders, SQIE's, Plant & Engineering teams
Build key supplier relationships within region
Execution of the MCO process for engineering changes
Supplier commercial management
Strong exposure to use of Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS)
Demonstrable track-record of achieving challenging cost-down targets (GCR – Global Cost Reduction)
Specific relevant commodity purchase experience – containerisation solutions and cooling systems (either complete or at component level).
Ability to understand and manage engineering change control processes.
Required Education, Licenses or Certifications
University degree, Masters, MBA in supply-chain management, a business management-related discipline, OR
Equivalent vocational experience
Compensation and Benefits
Salary £40,160 - £45,180 per annum (dependent on experience)
