This is an exciting opportunity in Huddersfield for an Applied Mechanics Engineer

Cummins UK is where you can work on industry leading engineering projects predominantly within Turbochargers but other engine components as well.

Your impact will be seen in these and other ways:

  • By performing Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of turbocharger components, including; linear, non-linear, static, dynamic, thermal stress and vibration analysis.

  • Interpreting analysis and testing results and providing design teams with the appropriate guidance.

  • Providing support on quality issues as and when required.

  • By coaching and mentoring less experienced engineers


Skills and Experience Required:

  • Experience in a similar role previously.

  • Ideally worked in turbomachinery or automotive / engines but similar industries considered. .e.g Aerospace, Rotating Machinery, Heavy Machinery.

  • Proficient in the use of any major FEA code, as training as will be given in ANSYS (MAPDL & Workbench).

  • Other CAE software knowledge would be advantageous (e.g Matlab, 3D CAD etc.)

Required Education, Licenses or Certifications

  • Ideally a PhD or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physics or Mechanical engineering considered dependent upon relevant experience.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary of £34,257-£39,743 based on experience
