We are looking for a talented Lead Gauging Technician to join our team specializing in Quality for our Components Business Segment in Huddersfield.

This is a permanent role working 35 hours per week Monday – Friday 7.30am – 3.00pm

Salary is £33,300 - £37,000 depending on experience.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Lead the day-to-day tasks of gauge calibration, gauge maintenance and record keeping whilst ensuring that the gauging schedule is maintained and adhered to.

  • Lead action to resolve non-conforming calibrations and ensure the impact to manufacturing is kept to a minimum.

  • Utilize measurement systems analysis and develop best practice for gauge calibration.

  • Manage all calibration certification, keeping accurate records and aligning with the gauge management database

  • Ensures any non-conforming gauges are contained and relevant functions informed in the event of suspect non-conforming product as a result

  • Manages all aspects of programmable gauging, specifically new gauge pass-off, maintenance and repair of existing gauges

  • Responsible for adherence to the lab scope

  • Manage the calibration schedule to minimize disruption and overdue gauges

  • Both support and lead root cause analysis for non-conformance investigation within the gauging function

  • Maintain and create work instructions and procedures to support gauging requirements

  • Work with manufacturing and external services to ensure maintenance and gauge repair is carried out to schedule

  • Liaises with external calibration laboratories to provide external calibration

  • Leads procurement of new attribute and basic variable gauging

  • Supports the Maintenance and accuracy of the Gauge Management Database, MSA records and QIE reports

  • Assists with the training of Calibrators to ensure all members have a broad skill base for completing the tasks of the department

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Extensive calibration experience including use of gauge verification equipment

  • Knowledge of gauging industry standards & advancing metrology techniques

  • Extensive knowledge of Mitutoyo or Zeiss CMM programming

  • Advantages – Additional programming experience preferred
