Controls Engineer

Description

Comprehensive knowledge applied to performing skilled activities which support manufacturing business needs. Works with relevant functions to select and utilize appropriate resources, tools, machinery and specialty equipment. Thoroughly understands the protocols of working safely with electricity and other energy sources with industrial equipment. Acts as a formal resource leading and coordinating others. Quickly and effectively adapts to change in the manufacturing environment.

Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE)

Support equipment failure analysis.

Performs work in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals and specifications using various tools, measuring and testing instruments.

Provide feedback into the Preventive Maintenance system.

Ensures all process documents and quality procedures are updated and acts as a resource to provide help to others.

Raises issues to minimize cost and quality exposures.

Performs quality inspections.

Fully proficient performing skilled activities expected by their roles in accordance with defined roles and responsibilities.

Leads and coordinates others acting as a formal resource for team members with less capability.

Performs and documents preventive, emergency, corrective and predictive maintenance activities.

Maintains clean and orderly work area, including routine housekeeping and machine cleaning tasks.

Performs other duties as required to meet business goals.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience

Significant work experience and in-depth knowledge obtained through specialized training and relevant experience.

Supports and debugs problems independently

Gives advice to other departments in questions of process controls, also in anticipation of functionality and feasibility of changes

Checks and improves the active knowledge management database, e.g. with contributions to “lessons learned”

Manages IT- and LAN- infrastructure at the shopfloor incl industrial ethernet.

Assists as a mentor for Junior Controls Engineers.

EDUCATION:

At least: Successfully completed bachelor’s in a relevant area, e.g. Electrical and Computer Engineering or Informatics or Mechatronics or Industrial automation or a comparable subject

Possible subject-specific additional qualification: PLC, application-, database-, webtechnology-development, image processing, robot programming
