This is an exciting opportunity in Milton Keynes for a Manager - Battery Pack Component Design and Integration.

Your impact will be seen in these and other ways:

  • You will provide effective leadership to a team of mechanical and electrical engineers responsible for the design and development of battery assemblies and packs.

  • The team is responsible for the design and release of battery pack interior components, including cooling plates, pack level cooling hoses, pack level heat balances, pack level busbars, pack level LV harnesses, (MSD, Fuses etc.) thermal propagation protection components, pack level sensors, and thermal paste/ gap pads.

  • As technical design authority, you will create and own the master models and the master electrical schematic for all battery packs.

  • Leveraging your automotive project delivery experience, you will manage current projects to culmination, and plan the upscaling and resources required to deliver the subsequent project forecast.

  • You will project manage the implementation of Windchill as the primary PLM system.

  • Ultimately, you will be accountable for the delivery on time ofengineering solutions meeting cost, weight, and technical performance targets.

  • Your team will develop engineering design guidelines (ESW) and pass/fail criteria for their components and release and maintain these documents as required.

  • You will facilitate and lead formal design reviews prior to the release of components liaising with associated cross functional teams (Project Leadership, Engineering teams, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Service, Finance etc.)

  • As owner of the Pack design function, you will also hold responsibility for liaison with Manufacturing, Purchase, Service and Finance teams whose input is critical to project success.

  • Under your leadership, the team will be expected to develop methods to more quickly engineer battery pack solutions, as a critical part of the overall strategy for bringing the electrified powertrain product to market.


Skills and Experience Required:

  • Strong exposure to standard CAD package (Creostrongly preferred).

  • Experience of implementing or upgrading PLM systems (Windchill)

  • Vesys and / or Creo Electrical Suite desirable.

  • Previous use of Can Vector

  • Experience of leading at least one Automotive component or system design project through the full project, from concept to delivery.

  • A demonstrable ability to make rapid, high-quality decisions through a structured process, even where ambiguous or minimal information exists.

  • The ability to manage, motivate and develop ateam of engineers, demonstrating strong leadership and extracting the full potential from the team.

Required Education, Licenses or Certifications

  • Bachelors degree,

  • OR equivalent automotive design engineering experience

Additional requirements:

  • Occasional travel (expected 2-3 times per year) to China and west-coast USA.
