Automation and Data Engineer

Description

Hydrogenics, part of the Cummins Group, is an industry-leading developer of renewable hydrogen technology, and we are currently looking to hire an Automation & Data Engineer to join us in our Oevel location.

You will work in a small automation team, jointly responsible for implementing and delivering bespoke automation solutions, and carrying out research and development work across a range of automation processes.

Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to) the following;

  • Support in the design and testing of PLC and HMI software solutions on a broad range of projects.

  • Identify opportunities to drive improvements in data collection, with a focus on efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Setup project datalogging and ensure data correctness and integrity at all times.

  • Assist with the smooth migration of the database to the server.

  • Develop and demonstrate a thorough understanding of cloud storage for processing data.

  • Ensure the standardization of PLC programs across projects.

  • Improve the parametrization and diagnostics of I/O Cards, working towards automated I/O mapping.

  • Research and implement security measures for IP protection and IOT environment

  • Occasional client site commissioning and testing; including writing factory and site acceptance test documents.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will need;

  • Degree Qualified, in Electro-Mechanical / Electrical / Automation Engineering, or existing experience in a similar position.

  • Knowledge of Siemens PLC Programming (STEP 7 & TIA-Portal) is essential, knowledge of HMI/SCADA systems would be beneficial.

  • Knowledge of SQL would be beneficial.

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, either through industry experience, internship, temporary student employment would be highly desirable.

  • Strong problem - solving abilities teamed with a high attention to detail.

  • A hands-on mentality to make wiring adaptations while testing new systems

  • The ability to work well and accurately in a time-constrained and pressured environment.

  • English skills are essential.
