Description
At our Oevel site in Belgium, Cummins is developing innovative Fuel Cell and Electrolyzer technologies that can generate hydrogen for various applications with zero emissions - contributing to a safe and healthy environment for future generations.
We have a diverse team of engineers dedicated to the development of existing and future products for customers on a global scale. We are currently looking for a New Product Development (NPD) Service Engineer to join the team. The role will report to the Customer Care Program Leader – Fuel Cell & Hydrogen Technologies.
Your tasks:
This role will be responsible to plan and manage delivery of PITTI elements (Service parts, Information, Training, Tools and Infant care) for Hydrogen product development projects, to make sure of service channel readiness in time for product launch.
This role is expected to be heavily focused on “diagnostics development and troubleshooting procedures” for different Hydrogen products.
The successful candidate will be taking part in design reviews and set up serviceability reviews to help bringing service perspective and practices into product design, by working closely with engineering and rest of cross-functional team members.
Prepares the service channel for efficient service events, confirming that parts and special tools are available, service information (including diagnostics) is accurate and translated, and special care is ready for customers of new products.
Anticipates potential product or process issues in the field and delivers robust technical solutions. Leads the investigation of product or system problems, understands causal mechanisms, recommends appropriate action, and documents results.
Leads consensus with technical experts to make proactive engineering decisions, in the area of failure analysis and data trends, to implement final product resolutions to reduce customer downtime.
Applies and supports product problem solving processes such as the seven-step problem solving approach and tools such as the product development roadmap to enable high-quality repair events.
This dual product/customer focused position acts as technical liaison between the Cummins field service organization and the Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing organizations to proactively identify, define, and prioritize product issues and to implement both short-term and long-term solutions.
Leads the development and improvement of work processes and systems across a functional discipline area within a business unit site.
Provides support and guidance to influence technical direction within a project team and continues to develop proficiency in the competency areas critical to success in the role.
Operates as a recognized specialist in a discipline or product area within the immediate team.
Your profile:
College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other relevant technical disciplines is required (Industrial Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering are preferred).
Experience in hydrogen production or Fuel cell industry is not required but an advantage.
Customer service experience is highly preferable.
Prior Senior or Lead Engineer equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are a must.
Ability to work within cross functional teams. Supportive of co-workers and teammates, principally concerned about group success. Knows how to work within a diverse team and when bring other team members to the table to complete a project.
Knowledge of MS Office tools is preferred.
